Lemon Squeezy

Lemon Squeezy is a merchant of record popular with indie software sellers. It is the only provider here that cannot create products for you, which changes how you set plans up.

Worth knowing

Stripe acquired Lemon Squeezy in 2024, and the team now builds Stripe Managed Payments. Lemon Squeezy still operates and accepts new stores, but if you're choosing today, Stripe with Managed Payments is the same team's current product and PackEdge supports it as a toggle on the Stripe connection.

API keyYesLemon Squeezy → Settings → API
Store IDYesThe numeric id of your store

The store id is not a secret.

Mapping plans

Lemon Squeezy's API exposes products and variants read-only. Nothing can create them — not PackEdge, not any other tool. So:

  1. Build the product and its variants in the Lemon Squeezy dashboard.
  2. In PackEdge, open the plan editor. The Product mapping field is marked required and lists the variants in your store.
  3. Pick the variant this plan sells.

A variant, not a product: one Lemon Squeezy product can hold several variants (monthly and yearly, or tiers), and a checkout references the variant. PackEdge labels them Product — Variant in the picker, because Lemon Squeezy variants are often just called "Default".

A plan with no mapping cannot be sold

There is no auto-create fallback here. If the mapping is blank, checkout fails with an explicit error rather than charging anyone.

Deleting a PackEdge plan does not touch your Lemon Squeezy products — they're yours, created and retired in their dashboard.

Webhook

Add it yourself in Lemon Squeezy → Settings → Webhooks, pointing at the URL shown in the console. Choose any signing secret and paste the same value into PackEdge.

Subscribe: order_created, subscription_created, subscription_updated, subscription_payment_success, subscription_cancelled, subscription_expired.

No event ids

Lemon Squeezy webhooks carry no unique event id, so PackEdge derives one from the event name and object id to deduplicate redeliveries. This works, but it means two genuinely distinct events on the same object in the same instant would be indistinguishable. In practice that doesn't happen.

Test mode

Toggle Test mode in the Lemon Squeezy dashboard. Test and live objects are separate — a live variant id will not work under a test checkout, and vice versa.
